Pack it up is a quick collaboration game that has teams race to find the right sequence of adventure kit.
The purpose of Pack it up is to simulate a team-meeting, where the member assigned as facilitator is tasked with achieving an objective by bringing together and making sense of the information and resources of the group.
Our framework for effective meetings at Gemstone assigns three primary responsibilities to a meeting facilitator:
Pack it up allows us to see the challenges that these responsibilities pose in real time, allowing participants to reflect on what’s at stake when they are not fulfilled.
The game works by giving visibility of the game objective and mechanic to meeting facilitators, and giving unsorted and segmented pieces of information to meeting attendees. Initially, attendees must describe rather than show their information, challenging the facilitator to align the group, engage members to make sure all information is shared, and to optimise the shared problem-solving that follows.
Variants with higher or lower levels of difficulty could be explored to allow for more in-depth meeting simulation or shorter playtimes.
